Advance Gender Equity for Women in the Performing Arts
The AGE in the Arts Awards are presented annually to Portland-area theatres that demonstrate a commitment to age and gender equity in programming, leadership and casting.
The recipients of the 2017 AGE in the Arts Awards were announced on Monday, July 26, 2017 at the 39th Drammy Award Celebration in Portland, Oregon. A total of $30,000 was awarded as follows:
2017 AGE in the Arts Awards Recipients

$10,000 – Boom Arts
This year’s recipients were awarded for their courageous efforts to advance the stories of all women through play selection, directing and casting, as well as for instituting policies for the safety and well-being of women in the theatre.

AGE in the Arts Awards Selection Process
AGE in the Arts Awards recipients are selected following a rigorous multi-phase application and review process. The 2017 Selection Committee was made up of 20 theatre industry professionals from Portland and across the country — women and men of diverse ages, ethnicities and races. We are honored by their commitment to the AGE mission and grateful for their dedication and hard work to bring the 2017 AGE in the Arts Awards to fruition.
